The Wolf Moon name might have originated from colonial times when wolves howled outside of villages. Some cultures call this full moon the Ice Moon, the Snow Moon, or the Moon After Yule.
Fun fact: Wolves howl to communicate over long distances, essentially revealing their locations to the rest of the pack or to notify them to stay away from potential intruders.
